Announcing the 15th Annual "Samba Syndrome" :
Get your fill of samba with 20 drumming, dance, vocal and instrumental workshops and two evening events!
It's all about the chemistry: A great mix of instructors and topics both old and new!
• PATINHO AXÉ (Bahia) from Ilê Aiyê will be passing along his know-how to educators, for the first time opening a professional samba-reggae workshop
• NININHO (Olinda) will be daring the combination between maracatu and samba-reggae
• ANNICA MYRÉN (Gothenburg) will be leading the intermediate batucada workshop, expanding our connections within the European scene
• NILO SERGIO (Rio de Janeiro) will be returning for the "Samba Batucada Masters" workshop (with audition)
• CHRISTOPH RENNER (Berlin) will be carrying us off to faraway soundscapes with his "In-dien-dha-ge-tiri-kiti-tun-na"
• CARLOS DA SILVA (Pernambuco) will be dancing frevó with participants
• HARTMUT PREYER (Berlin) will be performing choro with instrumentalists of all kinds
We have also changed things up for the youngsters:
• KATJA HÖLLEIN (Berlin) will be including fathers, mothers and grandparents in her workshop for the first time
• ANDREA SITZ (Berlin) and team will be mediating the samba on objects from daily life
• PAULO SOMMER (Sao Paulo/Berlin) and his band Cataporas will be focusing on children and youth between 11 and 16 years of age

Evening Events
The highlights for Friday evening will include the pent-up samba-reggae energy of Muleketu from France under the direction of SEAN and the group Palpitações with Berlin percussionist VOLKER CONRATH.
Saturday evening will be devoted to an extensive show featuring the Mestre of Samba Syndrome.
